This is a 4K walking tour of Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria, filmed on a Thursday morning just after 9. The city is only half awake at this hour. Shops are still rolling up their shutters, the cafés are filling, and you can hear the streets instead of the crowds.
The route is a loop through the centre that skips most of the postcard stops. It starts on Macedonia Boulevard, crosses Macedonia Square and follows Alabin Street to the Palace of Justice, then turns down Vitosha Boulevard, where the tents for Book Alley were going up. The fair runs 7 to 13 September with more than 150 publishers.
The second half is the part visitors rarely walk. Patriarh Evtimiy Boulevard, the church of St George, then Skobelev Boulevard out to the Russian Monument, and back down Macedonia Boulevard to where the walk began.
